Senior Originator Description

Monetary Metals is a disruptive, high-growth gold yield platform, that pays interest to savers, finances qualified businesses, and provides a liquid marketplace that benefits all participants. We are looking for a senior originator to help source and manage corporate relationships and shepherd deals through our evaluation and approval processes from start to finish.

As a senior originator, you will play a pivotal role in providing financing solutions for the precious metals industry, specializing in mining and leasing of precious metals. This challenging and rewarding position requires exceptional financial expertise, extensive knowledge of the precious metals mining and leasing sectors, and excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

You will work closely with corporate clients, investors, and internal teams to facilitate financial transactions, provide strategic advice, and guide clients through complex mining projects and investments. This position is open to remote applicants and will report to the Head of Origination.

Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with precious metals miners, refiners, bullion dealers, industrial users, and other businesses in the precious metals sector.

Understand clients’ specific financial needs, objectives, and risk tolerance to tailor finance solutions that align with their business goals.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing expert guidance on various matters related to financing their mining and inventory.

Financial Analysis and Due Diligence

Conduct in-depth financial analysis and due diligence on mining and leasing projects, potential mergers, acquisitions, and other financial transactions.

Assess the viability and profitability of mining ventures by analyzing financial statements, cash flow projections, geological data, market trends, and risk factors.

Identify potential investment opportunities and recommend appropriate financing structures to clients.

Structuring and Negotiating Deals

Work closely within a cross-functional team to structure financing deals.

Collaborate with the legal team to draft and negotiate financial agreements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Oversee the closing process of financial transactions, coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful conclusion.

Market Research and Intelligence

Keep abreast of the latest industry trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes impacting the precious metals mining and leasing sector.

Provide timely and relevant market intelligence to clients and internal teams, offering insights and strategic recommendations.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

Lead and mentor junior members of the team, providing guidance, support, and training to foster their professional growth.

Collaborate with other senior leaders to develop and implement business strategies for Monetary Metals, contributing to its overall success.

Networking and Business Development

Represent Monetary Metals at industry conferences seeking opportunities to expand our client base.

Build and maintain relationships with key industry players, stakeholders, and government officials to enhance Monetary Metals’ presence in the mining and gold industrial sectors.

Be willing to travel frequently to meet with clients and attend industry events.

Qualifications and Requirements

10+ years’ experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or related roles, with a specific focus on the finance of mining projects and/or metals leasing.

Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with a deep understanding of mining project evaluation, valuation techniques, and risk assessment.

Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance issues relevant to mining and leasing and resources transactions.

Proven track record of successfully structuring and executing complex financial deals.

The ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly and concisely to clients and stakeholders.

Leadership skills and qualities, with experience in managing and mentoring teams.

Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated business acumen and a keen sense of market trends and opportunities.

Existing network of industry contacts and relationships is highly desirable.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related technical field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
