Senior Originator Description

Monetary Metals (MM) is a disruptive, high growth gold platform, which pays interest to savers, finances qualified businesses, and provides a liquid marketplace for gold leases and bonds. We are looking for an individual to lead and manage all due diligence activities on the deals offered in our gold yield marketplace.

We have two kinds of deal: Leases to companies who have metal inventory or work-in-progress, and loans to companies who generate metal income (e.g. mines).

This fully remote position is a member of the Origination team and reports to the Head of Origination.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the Mission, Vision, and Values of Monetary Metals. 

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop the overall Due Diligence (DD) process for lease and bond transactions. 

• Lead all aspects of diligence including: geology, mine engineering, metallurgy, financials (including financial model), security, internal controls and process, permits and licenses, and collateral. 

• Prepare agendas and materials for Origination meetings. 

• Serve as technical lead for financial analysts. 

• Help set DD and travel budgets. 

• Help maintain and refine MM client onboarding application processes and materials.  

• Work with prospective clients to obtain and analyze DD materials. 

• Support Head of Origination to conduct screening committee meetings. 

• Review terms sheets and provide feedback.  

• Perform DD site visits and write reports. 

• Develop and manage relationships with external DD vendors. 

• Maintain and develop credit spreadsheet templates, prepare for each prospective client. 

• Coordinate with Operations for compliance hand-off, assist in ongoing compliance.  

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Advanced degree a plus). 

• 10 years’ experience in finance related due diligence (resource lending and/or metal leasing a plus). 

• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. 

• Proficiency in advanced Excel features for financial modeling and data analysis. 

• Knowledge of accounting principles. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• Travel globally as required for site visits.
